The Rules of RADIX

The voice of RADIX is not my natural writing style. It was constructed under a specific set of constraints.

  1. No borrowed wisdom. No quotation as authority. No idea entered the work until it had been lived, metabolized, and returned in my own language.
  2. Write only what earns its place. Compress without removing signal. Explain enough to orient, never enough to close the meaning. Trust the reader to do part of the work.
  3. Every abstraction must return to the fig tree: root, soil, branch, fruit, decay, season, and renewal. The metaphor is not decoration. It is the structure.
  4. The language may approach the esoteric, but never doctrine. Symbolic without becoming obscure. Precise without becoming clinical. Evocative without ornament.
  5. No advice. Only perspective and space.

These rules continue through the essays.
